“Bird Medicine is a lathe turned platter from Big Leaf Maple burl with a center medallion turned, carved and painted to look like a quilled piece.  The feathers are carved from maple as is the Kingfisher bird.  Kingfishers were held in high regard by some tribes for their hunting prowess and success and were thought to protect the person from bullets or arrow wounds when on their shield.  This piece measures approx. 22” in diameter x 4” thick.”
