Vicki Catapano is a premier artist in the Western Art field. Her work is in high demand and very collectible. It combines a mastery of brushstroke and color, exquisite Realism in portraiture and subjects, and authenticity in the Western elements. From the details in the hand-braided hackamore of the Buckaroo to the beadwork in the Native American regalia, her works displays a passion and care in preserving the ways of the Old West. From the working cattle in the mountainous terrain of Los Osos, California with Henry (Hank) Petersen. This mentoring provided her with the foundation in the spade of bit tradition of horse training. Simultaneously, her education in Animal Science at California Polytechnic State University explains her delicate and accurate portrayal of livestock and wildlife. Vicki's Native American subjects are primarily children and warriors. Her ability to capture her subject’s inner spirit, her use of vivid color, and her overall composition and design are combined to create an unforgettable art experience. Her inspiration came from their respect for the connection with Mother Earth Vicki has participated in several recognized shows including: Artist’s Magazine Annual Art Competition; the Mountain Oyster Club Show in Tucson, Arizona; the Crocker-Kingsley Art Exhibition, Crocker Museum, Sacramento, California; the annual Mother Lode National Art Exhibition; and American Women Artist’s National Competition in Taos, New Mexico. She has won several “Best of Show” awards including a Gold Medal in oil and acrylic at the Western Art Roundup in Winnemucca, Nevada; and Best of Show 37th Annual Mother Lode National Art Exhibition. Her work has also been featured in several fine publications including the Western Horseman, Nevada Magazine, Ranch and Country Magazine, and The Great Southwest Corporate Calendar.
