The publisher of PleinAir Magazine, Eric Rhoads, announced the magazine’s highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023
“The publisher of PleinAir Magazine, Eric Rhoads, announced the magazine’s highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023, will be presented to artist C.W. Mundy live on stage at the 10th Annual Plein Air Convention & Expo, being held in Colorado May 21-25, 2023.
C.W. Mundy graduated from Ball State University with a teaching degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on art. He received his Master of Fine Arts from Long Beach State University in Long Beach, California.
Starting with a career in sports illustration, he found himself drawn to the work of great artists like Clyde Aspevig and Richard Schmid. These influences pulled him into the fine art world.
Extensive travel across Europe added to his deep experience in plein air painting. He has taught students the art of painting en plein air for more than 25 years.
He is a Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, achieved Master Status with the American Impressionist Society, and is a Fellow at the American Society of Marine Artists and a Signature Artist Member of the California Art Club.
C.W. Mundy’s work has been widely exhibited in galleries across the country.
Rhoads said, “We feel fortunate to present our highest honor to a true living legend. C.W. has contributed to the art world with work of such high caliber that artists of all skill levels are inspired, motivated, and driven to improve their own skills. C.W. is a legend, and we’re excited to present this high honor to him.”
C.W. Mundy said, “I’m honored to have been selected for this prestigious award. The previous recipients are artists who inspire me to this day. I’m humbled to be in their company but proud of my life of study, creativity, and dedication to a craft I love deeply.”
The award will be presented at the Plein Air Convention & Expo in Colorado, the largest live gathering of plein air artists in the world.
